Simon Phoenix is a fictional villain best known from the 1993 film, Demolition Man. He is portrayed by Wesley Snipes.
Phoenix is a ruthless and notorious criminal from the 20th century, cryogenically frozen in 1996 for his violent crimes. Decades later, in the seemingly utopian society of San Angeles in 2032, Phoenix is thawed out during a parole hearing.
Almost immediately after thawing, Phoenix proves to be as dangerous as ever, wreaking havoc and proving to be too violent for the non-violent San Angeles Police Department. His reawakening necessitates the unfreezing of his old nemesis, John Spartan, to bring him down once again.
Phoenix possesses exceptional fighting skills, is highly intelligent, and adapts quickly to new situations. He's also incredibly sadistic and enjoys causing chaos. He serves as the primary antagonist in Demolition Man.
